Fun and Frugal Home and Garden Tips 1

1. Baking soda is an excellent scrub for sinks and tubs; it both whitens and deodorizes.

2. If you have grimey mini blinds, on a nice day lay them on your lawn, spray with a hose, add a few drops of dish soap, then scrub with a soft brush.? Let them dry in the sun, then re-hang. ?

3. Save money and contribute to your health by growing your own produce.? If you don't have much room in your yard for a garden, try growing them in containers or squeezed into existing flower beds.? Growing your own will provide you plenty of fresh produce and you'll know how they were grown and taken care of.? You'll also save gas from having to go purchase them.? Additional beneftis are a fun hobby and exercise!? If you're a beginning gardener, and you don't know where to start, a search on the Internet or a book from the library can help.

4. Keep clothespins handy in a nearby drawer to hold closed opened bags of food such as chips, bags of lettuce, etc.

5. Save money on food and lose weight by cutting back and eating only when hungry.? I joined Weight Watchers and justify the fees by how much money I save on the food that I'm not eating anymore.? I've lost weight, am much healthier and happier and am saving money! ?

6. A great way to save money is to make compost for your garden, rather than buying fertilizer.? Not only will you save the fertilizer money, but you'll save money by reducing the waste that goes into your garbage can (not to mention landfill space!), which can save you money by getting a smaller can or having the garbage workers pick up your trash less often.? A search on the Internet or a book from the library will teach you how to make compost, but generally, all you need to do is make a pile of layered grass clippings, produce waste, weeds and leaves, in an inconspicuous area of your yard, then water and turn it until it decomposes.? Once decomposed, it can be applied to your garden beds and will provide valuable nutrients to your plants. ?

7. To save money decorating your home (and yard), get creative and shop thrift stores and yard sales for decorative items like curtains, knick-knacks, planters, wreaths, art and more.? Deciding on themes and colors for your rooms beforehand really helps so you can look for those type of items when shopping.? Shopping this way will save you hundreds of dollars, literally, and it is great fun to hunt for treasures!

8. Save energy when cooking noodles by bringing the pot of water to a boil, then adding the noodles, then putting a tight-fitting lid on and turning the heat off; after 10 minutes the noodles will be done!

9.? Save calories and money and enjoy a mock ice-cream sandwich.? Sandwich frozen fat-free whipped topping between 2 chocolate or regular graham crackers... mmmmmm! ?
